Wrong computation on monthly stay

Postby nsche » Sat Mar 22, 2014 11:59 am

Some have found that when they enter a monthly stay they end up with it computed at a daily and weekly rate. For example if the guest is staying for the month of July you put in a reservation for 1 - 31 July. The system will compute that as 4 weeks and 2 days instead of one month. What is happening?

This is caused by a misunderstanding of how Open Campground computes stays. There are two dates involved, arrival date and departure date (start date and end date in the reservation and in-park list). The arrival is the date the guest arrives and the departure date is the date the guest packs up and leaves. The arrival date is counted as a day of occupancy and the departure is not counted as a day of occupancy. You can have a reservation with a given departure date and another reservation with the same date as the arrival date on the same site.

If you have an overnight stay the arrival date is today and the departure date is tomorrow giving you a 1 day reservation. If you have a weekly stay and arrive on Friday and depart the next Friday you have a 7 day stay and it is charged as a week (if the rates are set up for that). In the same vein if you have a stay for the month of July the arrival date is 1 July and the departure date is 1 August. That stay will be 31 days and it will be charged as a month if monthly rates are defined. In the same way 1 Feb to 1 March (28 or 29 days) will be charged as a month as will 1 April - 1 May (30 days).

To summarize, if the guest is staying the month of July the reservation should be arriving 1 July and departing 1 August.
